Biogas Energy Company (TBEC) was formed in year
2004 by Al Tayyar Energy in order to develop,
finance, build and operate biogas projects in
Thailand. The initial market for the company has
been Thai starch factories and TBEC is utilizing
the biogas technology used by the Korat Waste
to Energy Company in its successful biogas plant
in Korat.
Clean Energy Development
Company of Thailand (Clean THAI) proposed a portfolio
of possible projects to TBEC for finance and construction.
Initial development of several projects in this
portfolio is completed and has moved forward rapidly
with final development, finance and construction.
In addition to
the starch factory market, TBEC will expand its
portfolio to include biogas production at ethanol
plants and palm oil plants.
Kitroongruang
During July, 2004 TBEC broke ground for its first
project at the Kitroongruang Starch Factory in
Rayong Province. Construction was completed in
September 2005 and the plant was in full operation
in October, 2005. The plant is designed to eliminate
the factories need to burn 1,400,000 liters of
heavy fuel oil for starch drying and provide all
of the factories electricity. Excess electricity
is sold to the Provincial Electricity Authority.
Jiratpattanna and Chao Khun Agro
Construction of the Jiratpattan and Chao Khun
Agro Projects began in March and June 2005 with
full operation expected by March & July 2006,
respectively, for both projects.
TBEC is working on final development of two additional
projects, on which construction should begin late
2005.
